WHO WE ARE - HOW WE WORK

Vanguard engages in several areas of ministry which flow into each other: Evangelism, Discipleship, Leadership Development, Pastoral Training, Church-Planter Training, Women’s Leadership Training and Training of Leaders of Groups of Churches. We work with local churches throughout the world to help churches and pastors across the globe to reach souls for Christ, train them in the basics of the faith, equip them to spiritually reproduce, mobilize Christians for ministry, develop leaders and to deepen the ministry of pastors, missionaries, church-planters and leaders of different Christian denominations and associations to further His Great Commission. We help them take these principles into new churches which they plant with this Discipleship Process-of-Ministry.

We do this in different ways. Most often, we bring in teams of trainers into a given city to help teach and coach in these ways. At other times, a resident mentor will coach pastors in discipleship for their own cities and in geographic regions round about them. We normally secure adherence to our Statement of Faith, and an agreement that the host will invite all the evangelical pastors from the immediate region so that the whole Body of Christ in the area will be benefited.

Then we train the pastors in our Process-of-Ministry. We come back, year after year, to complete the other above modules. When completed, they constitute what we call a Great Commission Enterprise (GCE). By the last stage, the churches in the trained area should be able to make disciples, and train those disciples to evangelize and make disciples, but also to strengthen them in the area of their spiritual gifting so that they can powerfully serve the Lord in the areas in which God has endowed them. Leaders should be being developed, and new churches begun. The churches should then be sending out their own missionaries and mission teams to unreached peoples.

In a a Great Commission Enterprise, churches, denominations and mission societies co-operate with one another to evangelize large groups of people, disciple them, build them up to be leaders, train the pastors already in the area and begin training new ones in both theology and practicum, strategize to plant new churches and train their planters, and work with denominational and associational leaders to send new missionaries and plan church extension.

In each place, we take the country’s current need and move forward from there to help them Take the Next Step, as well as cover ground which may have been neglected, in order to pursue the entire Great Commission Enterprise in their region.
