The West African nation of Liberia has undergone great civil stress and strain over the last decade, including a horrible civil war, mass murders, power struggles and religious conflict. But happily, they had their first free elections, and the country is bouncing back, politically, socially and economically.
These conflicts kept Vanguard out of the country for several years, despite repeated attempts. Our contact there is Rev. Kokeh Kottee of the ministry LEAD, a pastoral training mission, who first invited us in 1999. But in early 2004 we were able to have a seminar with out Advisory Council member Ken Needham, and in early 2009 our Discipleship Director John Chitester trained pastors and leaders with Kokee in Monrovia.
We are looking forward to carry on our Discipleship Process-of-Ministry and Pastoral Training in this country which is loaded with potential and wonderful possibilities. If Liberia can be healed of its strife and make a comeback through the work of the Gospel, it can be an effective positive power as a missionary force for West Africa, for the continent and for the world. Please pray that this occurs.
